The anchor price
2 May 2025
The anchor price is a product's price on a date set by law (2 May 2025); the chains publish it.
How we calculate
2 May 2025
The anchor price is a product's price on a date set by law (2 May 2025); the chains publish it.
30 days
We compare a promotional price with the same store's lowest price in the 30 days before.
What each chain's price list header says
Next to today's price, shops must show the anchor price: the product's price on a date set by law, without any promotion. The chains also publish it in their daily price lists, which is where we read it.
Before 17 Nov 2026 that date is 2 May 2025. From 17 Nov 2026 it is 10 Sep 2026, except that shops which already showed the 2 May 2025 price for food, drink, cosmetics, cleaning products, toiletries and household products keep 2 May 2025 for those products. So from 17 Nov 2026 you may see either date.
We show the change from the anchor price only when the chain's price list gives one of these dates for that day.
We compare a promotional price with the same store's lowest price in the 30 days before the promotion began, taken from our own daily record of that store's price list, which must cover at least 28 of those 30 days. When the chain's price list also gives that lowest price, we show the comparison only if the two differ by at most one cent.
From 17 Nov 2026, every retailer with a website must publish its price lists by 8:00 every working day, in files a computer can read, keep them online for 30 days and allow automated collection of the prices. We read those files.
Sources: Croatian Government decisions no. 1212 (displaying the additional price) and no. 1213 (publishing price lists) in Narodne novine 101/2026. On 29 Sep 2026 the Government postponed them to 17 Nov 2026, when rulebooks under the Consumer Protection Act take effect; those rulebooks have yet to go to public consultation, so the dates may still change.
The prices on this site are from the price lists of 3 Oct 2026. For every chain: the newest day whose price list we hold, and how many lists we hold for that day. If a chain's newest list is older than the prices on this site, we say by how many days.
The chain's price list for that day gives this product a special price, in the column for promotions and other special sales. The label only repeats what the chain's file says; it is not our judgement of the price. When we can check the price against the store's earlier prices and it is lower, you see the label “Below the 30-day low” instead.
We compared the promotional price with the lowest price the same store charged in the 30 days before the promotion began, and the promotional price is lower. That lowest price comes from our own daily copy of the store's price list, which has to cover at least 28 of those 30 days, and the product page names it with its date. If the chain's file gives its own 30-day low and it differs from ours by more than one cent, we show no label.
The chain gives a special price, but we cannot yet say whether it is lower than before: either the promotion began before our daily copies of that store's price list start, or we hold fewer than 28 of the 30 days before it began. Until we hold enough days, we make no claim either way.
The percentage compares today's price with the anchor price that the chain itself gives in the same day's price list, next to the anchor date. Both prices and the date are the chain's; we only work out the difference, rounded to a whole percent. We show it only when that date is one the law allows on that day, as the section on the anchor price at the top of this page explains.
Every chain whose price list gives this product today asks the same price, each at its cheapest store (or at the store you picked). The label covers only the chains whose files we read and that list the product; it says nothing about other shops.
Every price is the one the chain's price list gives for every shopper: the regular price, or the special price when the file gives one. We do not read or show prices only for loyalty-card holders, so with a card the price at the till can be lower.
